Bootcamp YearBook

For Funsies

Overview

I realize now that I may have pulled a Leslie Knope. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I had an epiphany during my class that I should create a “yearbook” of all of our classmates from our time together. We spent 8 months together so it felt right that it be commemorated with something that we can look back on and remember the fond times we had together. So I decided to assign this project to myself.

I say with 100% confidence that this has been a life-changing class for me. It was a huge leap of faith, on my part, and something I will never regret or forget.

So for this yearbook, I wanted to create something that I could share with the class that was also a clickable site for future reminiscing. I thought it would also be a fun way to practice a lot of the skills I learned during the class.

Process & Design

Since this was more for fun, I won’t go in to many details about the entire process as I have in past projects. Ultimately, I wanted something that was inviting and professional. I chose a color palette that included this dark teal that felt very professional with a splash of an orange-y red for that pop of color. Not only did this project challenge my UI skills, but my graphic design skills as well.

I have never attempted anything like this before. I wanted the header to be bold and attention grabbing so I created the 2021 with the long shadow, which was a very popular design feature at the time.

It was then followed by a list of bubbles of every student in my class, including the TA and instructor (who still never sent me his picture, which is why his bubble is blank).

In order to collect all of the information for everyones page, I sent out a survey to every student in the class. They provided me with their profile image and also “voted” for superlatives of each class member. It was a fun way to include the other students in the end result of the personal pages.

Final Prototype

The final prototype can be viewed by clicking the button below. Please be aware these are real people and real information. I share this for the design I created and not to advertise others. Thank you.
